ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oils are highly concentrated liquids distilled from plants. They are multipurpose and can be used in the home for cleaning and cooking, in the body to boost energy and manage weight, and to support mental and emotional wellness.

I heard about essential oils a few years ago when I was looking into holistic health. I recently found Young Living through a blog I follow and love. The author is a former doctor and recommended these oils so I looked into them and completely felt that these oils were for me. I chose Young Living because they are the world leader in essential oils. Their quality is unmatched because of their Seed to Seal process that verifies oil quality. These are not nice perfume oils but 100% therapeutic grade essential oils that promote health & wellness in the body. Young Living owns their own farms where they use essential oils to control pests and they weed the plants by hand. Lastly, the company boasts over twenty years of experience and research. SOLD!

This is the fun part! If you’ve read my blog at all you’re aware that I enjoy finding ways to incorporate these oils into our lifestyle. I enjoy dropping Lemon and Citrus Fresh into my water in the morning and throughout the day. I add Tea Tree or Frankincense to my facial moisturizer {sometimes coconut oil} and my skin feels amazing. I like to drop Purification on our air filter so that the oil reaches every room in the house. But there is nothing, nothing like my evening routine: I get a really hot bath running, grab a glass of cold water with a couple drops of Stress Away and I shut the door and diffuse Lavender. Yes! What has surprised me the most is how much my husband enjoys them. I have caught him turning on the diffuser and have seen him disappointed when it wasn’t ready to go by his nightstand. Below are the most common ways to use essential oils:

Aromatically
Rub 2-3 drops of essential oil between your palms and inhale.
Add a few drops of essential oil to a bowl of hot water. Cover your head and bowl with a towel. Breathe deeply and slowly.
Add essential oils to a diffuser.
Topically
Place a few drops of essential oil on the desired area and massage in. Repeat as desired and always follow the label’s dilution instructions.
Internally
Add a couple drops to a glass of water, juice, yogurt and to meals when cooking. You can also add them into a gelatin capsule to take internally.
